Personality

Having a long history of piracy, Daine's demeanor is often rogue-ish and crude with a perverse nature towards anyone he may find attractive. He also is prone to extensive use of profanity and has no issue with being bluntly honest, sometimes even confrontational to anyone that might irritate or challenge him. He can sometimes have a superiority complex or alpha-male syndrome, especially with other male Au Ra present. Compliments only further inflate his ego as he has little modesty when it comes to things he takes pride in, but he isn't delusional about his weaknesses. Sober and self-aware of his mortality.
Daine's voice is baritone pitched with a gravelly, grating texture to it. Often speaking a pirate's slang loosely, his voice carries well with just the kind of person he is, rough and slack.

History

Youth

Hailing from the Nhaama Desert of the Azim Steppe, Daine was born within the nomadic desert tribe, The Torgud. This tribe was known for their nudism and use of Bonemeal or Limestone mixed with mud to make white paint that would then be used to cover their bodies to repel the harsh desert sun.
Upon Daine's birth his mother had perished after delivering him, having only her name to know her by. This thrust the duty of raising him to his father, who was also the tribe's Khan at the time, being not only Daine's sire, but to many other half-siblings he has no memory of as the brief life he had in the Steppe has been long repressed.
From the beginning Daine's father demanded much of him and was always training him, whether it be survival or combat. this was the life Daine knew and he loathed it, apathetic to preservation of customs and traditions.
At the age of nine an opportunity arose to leave his tribe. Daine didn't hesitate as he stowed himself within a travelling merchant's cart at Reunion while his, and several other tribes were trading. This merchant's cart was what brought him to the Ruby Sea. Being well hidden, the merchant unknowingly stowed Daine and their goods onto a merchant vessel and set out to sea.

Entering Piracy

Nearing the end of the merchant Vessel's journey, Daine's escape had been abruptly halted by a fleet of pirates with intent to pillage. All crew and merchants aboard the vessel had been slain before the Eorzean pirates hoisted the goods to their ships. It was then that Daine had been discovered when he fell from a burlap bag that tore, worn from overuse.
The pirates did not expect a naked nine year old Au Ra boy to be aboard, and at first intended to slay him like they had the merchants. Though despite the futility of it, Daine would fuss, fight and growl, demonstrating the nature of a Xaela's aggression. This not only amused the pirates, but impressed them, as Daine managed to bite one of the pirates and that it took about three or four of them to try and restrain the Au Ra boy. It was this that convinced the pirates to keep him.
Daine didn't know he'd end up most of his life at sea, and know only the mannerisms, brutality, and humour of pirates. He was forced into labour intensive duties throughout growing up.
Being the only Au Ra aboard an Eorzean pirate's vessel, Daine quickly made a place for himself with his aggressive nature and strength. As no matter how many times he had been punished, not once had his will for self-preservation and defence faltered. Even going as far as to behave animalistic.

Adulthood

Daine changed his name to what it is currently now, making it up and mixing other names he's heard to make up a surname. This would be the final tie to his tribe severed, his true name and past left behind in the Steppe. Easily settling into the rough life of being a pirate, Daine had no trouble with participating in raids, stealing, murdering, drinking, gambling, brawling, and having many wild, sexual conquests. He had become indifferent to any other lifestyle options, not only content with where he was now, but also finding enjoyment in it.
Though a criminal eventually gets caught, and Daine had no choice but to abandon the captain and crew as their ship had been intercepted by an ambush of Yellowjackets. He wasn't the only crew that decided to dive overboard, but he managed to avoid being one of the many stragglers that were caught by diving deeper and swimming farther to evade capture.

Present

Daine settled into doing his own work, but with far more discretion. He learned to make various illegal substances, built ties across borders to trade with, especially in Garlemald, as well as repair and sell weapons of all types, including magitek. Though given the civil war in Garlemald breaking out, Daine had lost his biggest form of income and trade, forcing him to look for new connections to try and compensate for such a heavy loss.
